Job Description
In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee daily operations within your production area, supervising teams of 2–10 staff and reporting directly to the Production Manager. Flexibility to work across various rosters is beneficial. Rosters can include 6am-2:30pm with a 12pm finish on Fridays, 2:30pm-11pm, with a 6pm finish on Fridays, and 6am-4pm Monday-Thursday. Rosters and shift times depend on the production area and the time of year and are not necessarily set in stone.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Meet production schedules in real time while ensuring all GMP, HACCP, WHS, and food safety requirements are achieved.
Supervise and coordinate production team members, maintaining an efficient, safe, and positive team culture.
Monitor workflow, identify issues, and resolve or escalate them promptly to maintain operational continuity.
Ensure all manufacturing, packaging, cleaning activities, and documentation are completed accurately and to required standards.
Conduct on‑the‑job training, mentoring, and coaching to build team capability and support performance development.
Maintain compliance of equipment, processes, and work areas to hygiene and safety standards.
Communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams including Quality, Maintenance, and Warehouse.
Support continuous improvement initiatives, including corrective action investigations and process enhancements.
Participate in toolbox talks, team meetings, and safety briefings to reinforce quality and safety expectations.
Operate equipment and assist with hands‑on production activities as required to support team performance.
Desired Skills and Experience
What You Bring
Demonstrated experience in a food, beverage, FMCG, or manufacturing environment.
Experience from an agriculture background highly regarded.
Strong people leadership and relationship building skills.
Ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly when issues arise.
Knowledge of WHS, GMP, HACCP, and quality systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good literacy and competent numeracy.
Solid computer skills with the ability to interpret data and complete documentation.
Experience in QAD or other ERP systems desirable.
Strong time management and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, safety focused environment.
Practical problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
Self-motivation, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
Physical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods.
A current forklift licence (essential).
